LG takes the wraps off the LU2300

Allow me to introduce the InTouch Max’s big brother, the LG LU2300.

With a 1GHz processor as standard it packs enough of a punch to compete for the affections of android smartphone users with the likes of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the HTC Legend.

Features:

  • 3.5inch capacitive touchscreen
  • 1GHz Snapdragon Processor
  • 4 line landcape slide QWERTY keyboard
  • DivX support
  • Wi-Fi
  • DMB Tuner
  • 5 megapixel camera complete with geo-tagging

The word on the street also says that it has a commitment to Augmented Reality, with built in AR apps as standard.

It is due for release in Korea in April or May this year and we can only hope that it is such a big hit that it is given a wider release soon.

LG LU2300 Android phone gets some pics, possibly coming soon

Just to add to the slew of sexy Android devices that have appeared recently, it appears that we finally have some pictures of the LG LU2300 Android handset. This phone has been rumored for awhile now but now we get to see what this beauty looks like.

The LG LU2300 runs Android 2.1 w/ the “S-Class UI” (LG’s own user interface), a 3.5″ capacitive AMOLED touchscreen (800 x 480), 5MP camera capable of HD video, a roomy 4 row landscape keyboard, and a 1GHz Snapdragon on board.

According to all the talk it may only be available in Korea for now with not much evidence that it will make it’s way to the US. However, PocketNow is speculating that it could be released under the “C710 Aloha” in the States.

LG hasn’t done too much with Android so far so it’s good to see that they are coming with a powerful device. While it is no Samsung Galaxy S, the LU2300 looks like it could be a contender. The next few months are looking like they're going to be filled with amazing Android handsets. No wonder all those consumers are thinking Android.

LG GW620 official, its first Android phone

Though, as we reported, it was first seen at IFA in Germany a few days ago, LG has just officially announced its very first Android phone -- the LG GW620 landscape QWERTY slider.

Interestingly, the "Etna" name seen at IFA is missing from the official press release, but otherwise, the 3-inch touchscreen mentioned lines up nicely with what we'd previously known.

Camera specs aren't mentioned here, but as far as we know, it's going to clock in at 5 megapixels (and anything less would look a bit paulty for a newly released phone nowadays) and the phone looks to be loaded with the standard Android build, so no customised interface like the HTC sense UI as seen on the HTC Hero.

Look for the GW620 to start showing up in "select European markets" in the fourth quarter of the year.

Wow, those Android phones sure are starting to pour out of the woodwork now aren't they..

Presenting the Etnea: LG's first Android phone

LG has discreetly unveiled their first ever Android phone, the LG Etnea, at IFA 2009 in Berlin.

it comes with a slide-out full QWERTY keypad to complement its 3-inch touchscreen display. We’re not sure what its complete specs are, but it is confirmed to feature a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. The keyboard itself looks nice and spacious.

LG has publicly stated that it will have at least three Android phones ready to ship before the end of 2009.

Nice work LG!

LG GW880 Android Phone will soon hit stores in China

Chinese markets will soon welcome another handset by LG dubbed the GW880, according to Engadget. It is supposedly the first Android phone by the company operating on China Mobile’s OPhone platform. OPhone reportedly stands for Open Mobile System, the name for China Mobile's customized version of Google's mobile operating system.

The device will feature a 3.5-inch 480*800 WVGA touchscreen along with 512MB ROM, 256MB RAM, GPS, a five megapixel camera with flash, front camera for video conferencing and CMMB / MBBMS Mobile TV.

As for the phone nothing apart from these details are known. LG is also apparently expecting to release the GW880 in other parts of the world besides China in the future.

Presumably if that is the case, the Chinese oPhone operating system, which is based on Android, will be replaced with the standardised Google Android.

3 LG Android Handsets on the way?

LG apparently claims that they would be unveiling 3 Android handsets by the end of 2009. Now, it seems that the GW620 Eve would probably be the first Android handset from LG.

Supposedly LG are planning to release up to three different Android based devices in Q3/Q4 of this year, with a few more due to land in 2010.

According to IntoMobile, LG’s site has disclosed few specifications of its Android handset. Reportedly, the Eve seems to come with a 320 x 480 resolutions HVGA touchscreen display. The handset is speculated to offer Wi-Fi and UMTS/HSDPA connectivity. The phone will probably come with a full QWERTY keyboard. The features are similar to the other Android phones likely to enter the market.

Apparently, none of the specifications are official as of now.
